The World Affairs Council of Western Massachusetts is pleased to announce that Dr. Katherine Brown, President and CEO of Global Ties US , will speak on her new book, Your Country, Our War: The Press and Diplomacy in Afghanistan (Oxford University Press, 2019), at our 93rd Annual Meeting & Dinner or Wednesday, October 2 at the Springfield Sheraton Hotel.
We also plan to present our second Sue C. Root Citizen Diplomacy Award to a local organization that has done outstanding work with the Council for the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program and other exchange programs.
Your Country, Our War is the first book to review news media dynamics of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, America’s longest continuous combat engagement in history.
